Welcome to Roam Pal Guide, a digital guidebook application managed by ADAI Digital Ltd ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your personal data is handled securely and transparently.

1. Local-First Data Privacy

Roam Pal Guide is built as a local-first PWA application. This means:

• All of your checklist checkmarks, current and past trips, private places, notes, memories, saved media, journey support plans, assistance requests and booking references are stored strictly locally on your own device's storage (via browser localStorage or IndexedDB).
• We do not operate a remote database for user accounts or sync your diary to our servers. Your data remains yours, under your physical control.
• If you share a journey support plan, the previewed text goes only to the recipient you choose. References, contacts and private notes are excluded unless you turn them on.

2. Sharing a private trip copy

When you deliberately share a current or past trip, Roam Pal creates an encrypted copy on your device. The selected trip is carried in the link and is not uploaded to a Roam Pal trip database. Home and caravan-storage locations, access needs, memberships, booking references, private notes, photos and videos are always excluded. A named holiday stay is included only if you select it.

The encryption key is part of the complete link, so anybody you give that link to can open the selected copy. Treat it like a private document. The recipient receives an editable copy; live shared editing is not currently provided.

3. Lens photo explanations (beta)

Lens is an optional feature that explains a photograph of a ticket, sign, menu or timetable in plain English. When you choose a photo and press the button:

• The photo is resized on your device and sent once, over an encrypted connection, to our Lens service running in the EU, which uses an AI model (Google Vertex AI, EU processing) to produce the explanation.
• Your photo and the answer are not stored by us, are not used to train AI models, and are not linked to any identity. Our service logs only timing and size figures, never content.
• Nothing is ever sent until you press the button, and Lens has a small daily allowance per device.
• Lens describes what a photo appears to show. It can misread text and must not be relied on for safety or accessibility decisions.

4. Optional payments (Roam Pal Plus)

If you choose to buy Roam Pal Plus or a Trip Pass, payment is handled entirely by Stripe on Stripe's own pages. We never see or store your card details. We receive only confirmation that a purchase completed, which the app turns into a licence stored on your device — no account is created and essential access information is never behind the paywall.

5. Affiliate Link Disclosure & Referral Markers

To help fund the curation and maintenance of our guidebooks, Roam Pal Guide participates in affiliate and referral programs:

• Travelpayouts: We include links and widgets to book hotels, flights, and tours. If you make a purchase through these links, we may receive a small affiliate commission or kickback at no additional cost to you.

6. Cookies & optional anonymous service measurement

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising networks or general-purpose behavioural analytics. Your checklists and diaries stay on your device, and we do not use them to follow your movements or profile your behaviour.

Roam Pal also offers an off-by-default setting called “Anonymous service measurement”. If you choose to turn it on, the app may send only one of two short signals: a supported browser’s confirmation that the PWA was installed, or one launch of the installed app on a calendar day. The request contains only “Roam Pal” and that signal name. It does not contain your name, account, device ID, access needs, trip, place, search, location, notes or a cross-app identifier.

We put a signal straight into a daily total and do not keep a per-person or raw-event log. You can turn the setting off at any time in Roam Pal’s settings, without losing any feature. The totals are lower-bound browser signals, not a count of people, every download, or native app-store installations.
