Travelling fairs and circuses are perfect day-trip additions, but they need a different kind of listing. A touring show may use a park for only a few days. Dates, entrances and ground conditions can change. A permanent place pin would soon be wrong.
Circus tour finders
Circus Starr's official event map is a particularly useful starting point for inclusive circus shows. It publishes town, venue and date pages for its tours.
Zippos Circus tickets and dates lists the current tour stops and booking route. Gandeys Circus tour dates and Circus Zyair also publish current stops on their own sites.
Use the circus's own page for the date and ticket. Then check the named park, showground or host venue for parking, public transport and local ground conditions.
Travelling funfairs and charter fairs
There is no single complete official public calendar for every UK travelling fair. The Showmen's Guild of Great Britain is the national trade body, and some of its regional sections publish fair information. Local councils remain the strongest source for a particular visit.
Council pages already publish major recurring dates such as Neath Fair and Bridgwater Fair. Search your council's events pages for “funfair”, “charter fair” or “travelling fair”. Check again close to the day because weather, licensing and ground conditions can affect a visit.
What to check for access
Ask about the entrance surface, temporary ramps, accessible toilets, blue-badge parking and the distance from parking to the fairground or big top. Check whether a wheelchair space or companion seat needs booking. Ask how loud lighting, music, smoke effects or sudden changes are likely to be.
For a fair, the organiser can describe the event site, while each ride operator controls boarding. A general event access statement does not prove that every ride is suitable for every person.
